Welcome to the Character Gallery. Here is a chance to view portraits and read a bit about some of the colorful characters from the world of Lillybeth and Hinsberth (Note that some of these mysterious characters do not have descriptions to avoid the chance of any plot spoilers). Enjoy!
Quiet, introspective and physically large (even if not quite as large as his venerable friend Swinston), Abselard is one of the four pigs whose early morning meetings for gossip and discussion are w
ell known on The Farm. With the arrival of dawn, he and his cohorts: Swinston, Babeth and Quenelope can almost always be found beside The Puddle sharing the latest news and speculations regarding
events on The Farm. Abselard has a family and his daughter Laramydia plays a notable role in The Essence of Things. He is not as outspoken or forthright as the gregarious Swinston; he prefers to keep his opinions more to himself, often mumbling under his breath over the more absurd exchanges of his confidants.
Daughter of Monique and Poullaire, Anati Plummage is a bold, at times feisty character who clashes frequently with her mother and younger sister Arela, but she nevertheless has a good heart and often relents to both. Slightly older than Hinsberth and Lillybeth, after several awkward meetings she eventually grew close ties with each of her younger counterparts. Our staff recently managed to interv
iew Anati (and inadvertently, sister Arela), click here to read the transcript.
Tiny, talkative, playful and prone to fits of the giggles, Arela Plummage is the daughter of Monique and Poullaire and younger sister to Anati. Despite their frequently caustic banter she is rather
fond of her older sister and often imitates her, much to Anati's chagrin. You can read her sister Anati's interview with our staff, as in characteristic fas
hion Arela deftly manages to ensure she is not left out.
With a plump personality mixed in equal parts of grandmotherly sweetness and insightful intelligence, Babeth is known for being Swinston's favored confidant regarding more serious matters, and is equally well know for wearing large, gaudy hats, a trait shared with her close friend and ally Quenelope. If not with Quenelope, Babeth can usually be found in the company of Swinston, and with either the conversations regarding The Farm never cease. As one of the four morning conversationalists who congregate every morning near The Puddle, Babeth is well-connected to the inner workings of The Farm.
R. S. Markel has invited Mr. Abselard, a dear porcine friend and confidant and resident of The Farm, to share his opinions on a wide smattering of topics gleaned from the pig's venerable morning conversations. We do hope you enjoy this new addition.
Follow your dreams! Author, illustrator, scientist, engineer and generally curious character R. S. Markel is available to give an inspiring presentation based on his short semi-autobiographical story titled "The Dream Star".
